A healthy lifestyle platform for Latinas, De Las Mías offers up culturally-inspired content for its community. Recipes, stories, experiences, and easy-to-get-started ways to move are shared comadre a comadre.

Sada and Ana, the mother / daughter team behind De Las Mías, engaged us to help them connect with Latinas ready for or contemplating change. They wanted to take a meet-you-where-you-are approach with bespoke content available via their apps, blog, and social channels.

Did you know?
De Las Mías offers content in English and Spanish to reach a broader audience. Content written in Spanish is transcreated instead of a straight translation so that the stories and educational information maintain intent, style and context.
Iconography
Inspired by Cholula, Tajin, Jarritos, and Mexican pottery, art and culture, a vibrant palette was defined to bring our cast of chicas and mood-moji to life with layered textures from papel picado and piñata scraps.




PHOTO STYLING
While some lifestyle brands inspire their community with “perfect” — De Las Mías aims for auténtica — being authentic. This means women of all ages, women with curves, and women who are dealing with real life but are wanting to make it better by putting it all out there with bold style, loud laughter and feisty energy.
We helped to create beautiful content to show off the traditional and nueva cocina recipes hand-crafted by the De Las Mías test kitchen. You’ll find everything from the simple taquito to the famous Frito pie. We layered all this with textures from textiles, pottery, and beautiful, fresh ingredients.

Un poquito de todo.
Using core brand pillars — “multi-cultural, multi-generational, warmth / brilliance, and empowerment” — we designed De Las Mías to be proud, tenacious, fun and most importantly, accessible. A little bit of everything. Once the brand and boisterous voice of De Las Mías took shape, our next challenge was to balance this tenacious style with the things found in a thoughtfully-designed user experience for iOS and Android. We organized the app into distinct categories — recipes, activities, and community (comadres).
The kitchen includes a visual library of recipes that can be searched and sorted by dietary needs, step-by-step how-tos and nutritional info. ¡Actívate, Ya! is all about activity — track your steps and hit doable daily goals for moving your body. Throughout the app, users will find relevant and related content created by the De Las Mías team grounded in evidence-based research, behavior change models and plussed with their unique philosophy.


DAILY CHECKS FOR LIFELONG CHANGE
Small but consistent actions every day are the biggest movers for leading a healthier life. Did you move your body? Did you drink enough water? Users can use this daily checklist to keep an eye on how they’re doing. Need a reminder? There’s some pretty cute notifications to get you back on track. ¡Pruébalo! (Try it out!)
